Winter Of West And Wepair

Had my Dr.'s appointment on Monday about my shoulder. X-rays were taken and of course they came back fine because X-rays show BONES. This is a TENDON issue...I honestly don't even know why they bothered with even taking X-rays but whateve. I was then referred to an Orthopedic surgeon and have an appointment with him on December 2nd. So we will go from there.

I have decided this winter is going to be about rest and repair. I have my shoulder injury and my whole knee and hamstring thing going on...my body needs fixing if I want to continue doing the things I love. I'm getting my shoulder taken care of and I'm going to lay off the long runs till it gets warm and sunny out again. 7 milers cripple me the most BUT only if I run outside on the road. If I run it on a treadmill, I feel fine...my knee anyway, my hamstring still bothers me some. But running anything over 3.5 miles on the treadmill BORES ME TO TEARS. It is not fun and I'm just not doing it. I like looking forward to my workouts and when that doesn't happen then scratch that. So my Nike mini is just going to have to be happy with these little interval runs that I have planned for awhile...speaking of that I actually had two runs I didn't get to log because each time I went to press my band to start tracking, it wouldn't track and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. After trying again last night during cardio I finally said 'F' it and stopped messing with it and was going to chalk it up as broke. This morning when I was putting on my shoes I felt the little pouch that holds the tracking pod and it was EMPTY(wtf). Then I remembered I had slipped it into my Nike's some time ago for whatever reason I don't know, cause I prefer to run in my Asics. So yeah, I am a silly wabbit dumbass.

I have my workouts planned for the rest of this month till I see the Dr. next and yowza the one I did yesterday left me sorer then I have been in quite some time. Love it, but I did wake up last night with my shoulder hurting...annoying. Probably did a little too many push ups and shoulder presses...it's so hard to take it easy, SO HARD!

Wish I had something more exciting to blog about for ya's, but yeah, I got nothin.

P.S. I am ditching Haloscan for comments and just going to use the blogger ones because Haloscan is not showing up on my new Blackberry Tour...and yes, it really is all about the phone :)

P.P.S. Or I just won't have comments because now I can't get them to work...F*#@!

P.P.P.S. Fixed it :)

(sorry, that was me. Different account)

I agree! Rest and repair! Short term rest, long term gain. Oh, and it looks like your mini is still dancing a jig over there.

Hope you heal and come back better than ever. Winter sounds like the perfect time for that!

Lunge and squat matrix... My physical therapist has me do those, all different ways - with and without dumbbells, with core balls, on a bousu ball, jumping, upside down (ok, not really but it might as well be...) I swear, I can do them in my sleep. Even though the knee wasn't my primary problem, those exercises seemed to help, in addition to a lot running specific stretching. I don't know if something like that will help you, but what the hay...

I hope you don't need surgery! Do you think they'll order an MRI?

Melissa~I figured out it was you before you deleted the comment :)

Becca~LOL! Well, Bloggers comments used to suck way back when I started that's why I had haloscan. Then I just kept haloscan because I didn't want to lose all my comments I had but oh well, this is easier and I'm just going to have to suck it up and deal with the fact my whole blog is now commentless lol!

Irene~Thanks for the tips Irene!! and I will NOT agree to surgery unless an MRI is done first.

Found the link on an old article Calorielab did about you. I've been writing for them for over two years. Are you in Chicago? I was raised there.

At any rate. Too bad you can't run off road on a softer, yet stable surface. I stay off concrete or asphalt road surfaces and it has been much less traumatic for my running.
They'll probably order an MRI for your shoulder. What is the nature of your shoulder injury? If you give me some information, I'll give you a free opinion, lol, the Internet is full of those. I look at it this way, either I'm injured or I'm ready for further punishment
:-)

I do hope you feel better soon!

I agree with Dr. J about the running surface. I run almost exclusively on fairly level trails, with the exception of when I'm in a race. I've been injury free for four years now, and I think that's why.

Good luck - feel better!
