A Bee And Me

Woke up to the most beautiful Saturday Ever. Sat around in my pj's watching tv and drinking some tea. Then I decided to have some Kashi Blueberry cereal and almond milk before going for a run.

Then my power went out...WTF?! And even though I don't need power to go run I decided to sit outside for awhile and soak up some sun and do some blog reading(tetherberry rocks!).

I just get comfortable with my pant legs hiked up and my t-shirt sleeves rolled up enjoying the great outdoors when I hear a very loud bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing and then nothing. I saw it out of the corner of my eye first but I waited till I looked directly at the biggest yellow jacket ever that had landed on my shoulder before I did what any other girl would do in my situation...I.Flipped.The.F*@#.Out!!!!

My netbook and blackberry went FLYING as I screamed bloody murder and ran for my life. Thank goodness everything is still intact and in working order. So I get sat back down and pop the battery back in my netbook and restart everything. Roll my pant legs back up, then my sleeves and aaaaah, sunny relaxing bliss.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....WTF! Now it has landed on my leg!!!! This time I still scream and flip out BUT while having a death grip on my nb and bb (netbook and blackberry lol).

Screw sitting out in the sun, I'm going for a run.
Haha bee, you can't catch me.

Yeah I know, I am a dork. But it's Saturday so it's allowed :)

I will leave you with my favorite Got Milk? Ad of all time...

Upon first glance I think to myself oh I would give anything to look like that. Then I think...oh yeah, I did. 3 hours of cardio a day plus an hour of weights and nothing but chicken, turkey, broccoli, egg whites and fish...Screw that, I'll just admire her :)

For The Love Of Hills

50...FIFTY!

Fifty hill runs today. They did not happen without any bitching and moaning on my part...especially during the last 10. I kept arguing with Chad cause his count had to be off...I think that started at about hill 35. :)

But I ran 50...It's got to be the Metroelectro! (I can't help it, I seriously LOVE the stuff!)

I also want to give a shout out to my girl Melissa for having the best post ever yesterday on her blog! It was a vlog telling you how to tie your running shoes...check it out----> Losing Toenails? I will never tie my shoes any other way~awesome!

On another running note, I signed up for the The Nike + Human Race 10k

What's so cool about this is you can run anytime and anywhere that day. Just track it with your Nike id and log the results. OR, you can check and see if there is a group near you that is running...there is one in Peoria, IL so I'm thinking about signing up with that, but part of me would just like to go to the park and run it on my own too, so we'll see.

I was totally going to track my hill runs this morning but forgot to push my button on my bracelet. I realized this about hill number 8 and promptly told Chad...welp, that's it, I quit!

Instead I just pressed it and decided to track from there...or so I thought. About a half hour later I looked down to check it and it was still blinking "push to run"...WTF!!! So, needless to say that workout didn't get tracked, but I see my Nike Mini isn't working at the moment anyway(IT IS NOT PRIVATE!)...hopefully that get's fixed soon.

Got a shoulder workout to do tonight at the gym since I didn't get to do it last night due to the fact that I got stuck working to closing(boo hiss!). I was so upset about it that I had to go to Krogers on the way home and buy ten more liters of Metroelectro just to make myself feel better. Hey, it's my Captin Morgan only .99 right now so I'm stocking up while I can. :)

I Metroelectro, Do You?

While at Krogers the other night buying up all of their some Almond Dream I came across the biggest bottles of water I had ever seen so I had to stop and check them out. After reading the label, I was like...this stuff is the sh*t! And since they were having a sale on it, ten for $10.00, I bought some.

It's called "Metroelectro"(ha I freaking love saying that!)

"Metroelectro is micronutrient water: a combination of pure water to hydrate your body, antioxidants to protect your cells from damage, electrolytes to replenish essential minerals for peak performance, and zinc to boost your immune system.
Metroelectro has no sweeteners, no artificial ingredients, and no calories, because what you leave out is just as important as what you put in."

And let me tell you it was the PERFECT thing after my 5 mile run this morning! I haven't ran that far in...oh hell, I can't even remember, but I do remember when I did I felt like ass pretty much the rest of the day. But after chugging down half of the liter bottle, within like 10 minutes, I felt GREAT! Like so great I felt like I could run another 5 miles...okay, maybe not that great :) But still, I am now a Metroelectro fan!

As I was drinking it this morning I got to thinking...after the three competitions I did, my go to drink after stepping off the stage was Gatorade. I would totally ditch that for Metroelectro!!! Gatorade always made me blow up(especially my legs) instantly-hello High Fructose Corn Syrup. Metroelectro is giving you all the electrolytes and none of the bs! And bonus, it tastes like NOTHING...like water should taste...I just love it and the look of the HUGE 1 liter bottles :)

Course there are some of us that don't need Metroelectro
*ahem*

Let sleeping dogs lie...and snore, while her owner is out running her ass off :) (worst camera phone picture ever I know)

Jackpot!

It's not "Almond Breeze" but I'll take it! I have not been able to find this anywhere in my local grocery stores untill tonight...I literally squealed with delight right there in the aisle and had to resist the urge to buy all they had lol!

Random Running And What Not

Still lovin my Nike id bracelet. I've decided to put the link to my run stats(this is what is automatically posted on my facebook and twitter accounts) at the end of my blogs because it tells the pace and distance separately, not all grouped together like the widget does. I love seeing this info...LOVE IT! On my days I'm scheduled for actual runs, those are done at a steady rate. On the days I'm not scheduled to run I've decided to do a sprint workout after my weight training. So yesterday after my leg workout, that is what I did. For tracking purposes I only pushed the "run" button when I was actually sprinting so my workout looks like I went for a 7 minute run(lol)...not true, it was 7 sprints with walks in between. It was a 20 minute session cause that was all I had time for, but let me tell you it was killer.

This morning at Bob's we did our usual AB routine which looks like this, we do this whole set without rests in between, just bam bam bam!:

50 middles(knee tucks-no hands on ground)
50 twisting crunches left
50 middles
50 twisting crunches right
50 middles
50 right sides
50 left sides(this is the closest video I could find to how we do these...only her arm closest to the ground would be wrapped around her stomach so her shoulder NEVER touches the ground for the whole set and her other arm would be behind her head-THEY ARE HARD)

Next are push ups. We start in a regular push up position and go down only half way and hold for a count of 10...then all the way down(body not touching the mat though!) for a count of 10...then back to half way for another 10 and finally up to the top for another count of 10. We do this whole sequence TEN TIMES. Try it, I dare you.

Then after the feeling came back in my arms, we got to put our gloves on and pair up and work on our combos. This is my son's last week of working out with us since he starts back to school on Monday! No more puking or bloody nose's to start his day off right. At least he didn't puke and have a bloody nose all in the same workout, he kept them separate. :)

On another workout note, I have decided not to do Crossfit. It is just too far of a drive and would be too much of a pain in the ass, even for instructional purposes. I would love it if there was a Crossfit gym closer, but to be honest the monthly fee would probably keep me away even then. I work at my gym for the sole purpose of the "free" membership and who needs Crossfit when I got Bobfit(lol!). My problem is I want to do it all and that's not really a good thing. There is such a thing as too much exercise and I am happy with everything I am doing now.

Tonight is a back workout and more sprints if my legs can handle it(omg they are sore!) I might decide against the sprints though since I have a 3 mile steady state run scheduled for tomorrow. I plan on doing that run outside(if the weather holds) cause I want to see my stats when running on the road versus a treadmill.

Paleo
********

This is HARD! Only because I HATE structured diets. It's like when I have to think about it and organize it I honestly feel like I'm obsessing and I.hate.that. I'm still doing Paleo/Primal Blueprint(i'm liking this better!) but I'm done counting points(sorry Martha I just can't do it, I suck! lol).

I'm just going to do it, make it a lifestyle, but with controlled cheats on the weekends of course. I love doing it like this. This I can live with and that's what it's all about, finding what works for you and doing it.

Yesterday when my mother dropped the kids off after youth group, they all piled into the house going...omg what is that smell?! I was like, hello, those are my asparagus, zuchini, and sweat potato fries in the oven roasting(with olive oil and bacon salt). My son then turned to my mother and said..."see what we have to live with every day. Why couldn't it be cookies?" (lmao!)

So I made cookies too and had ONE. And I'm totally ok with that. :)

Right now I'm snackin on a handful of Cranberry Delight trail mix consisting of:
cranberries, sunflower seeds, almonds, golden raisins, and peptias(pumkin seeds). YUM!

2 Good 2 Be True

That's exactly what I thought when I saw Becca's post on "Asparagus Fries".

I thought to myself...NOTHING can make asparagus taste good to me and it should not even be used in the same sentence as the word fries. But after my shift at the gym last night I went straight to the store to buy some and actually could not wait to get home to try it.

Instead of butter flavored pam cooking spray like Becca used, I just drizzled mine with EVOO, sprinkled on some peppered bacon salt(I found while at the store-they did not have the "natural" option so I got peppered) and popped them into the oven along with some sweet potato fries.(no, they are not Paleo but that's something I don't agree with so I eat them...that's why I'm also liking the "Primal Blueprint" a lot better. More on this later.) I also drizzled EVOO over my sweet potato fries and sprinkled them with the peppered bacon salt as well...OMG, they ended up tasting just like the sweet potato fries I love so much at TGI Friday's!(I swear!)

So yeah, last night's dinner was Fish & Chips(Paleo/Primal Blueprint style)...

The asparagus fries were AAAAAAAAAMAZING!! O.M.G to the max, I can't even begin to tell you how delicious they tasted! Just know that I have wrote many a blog post calling asparagus, asparagASS :), but NO MORE!

I'm now thinking all veggies would be amazing cooked like this so tonight I'm going to do zucchini chips!...with EVOO and Bacon Salt(just a pinch). Hey, like the website says...

"Peanut butter and chocolate. Franks and beans. Cookies and milk. Bacon and anything."

This stuff is THE BOMB! Now obviously I'm not loading my food down with tons of salt, you only need a touch and this stuff is so good! Wow.

After viewing the website a bit and looking at the recipe section they even have a "roasted bacon asparagus" recipe on their site, but I'm telling you, you don't even need half those ingredients, just some EVOO and a shake of Bacon Salt and it's a party in your mouth!

I got up this AM for my 3 mile run and made myself run faster then my last 4 mile run and it still ended up being a damn 10 minute mile pace...gah I was seriously dying and thankful I didn't have to run 4 miles. I looked over my run schedule and they're are some 6 milers in there coming up and there is no way in hell I am doing a 6 mile run on a treadmill so those runs will be scheduled for evenings and outside!

For The Love Of Mini

My Nike mini is cracking me up! I only wish I felt that good after running 4 miles. Truthfully they should show her sprawled out on the ground with her middle finger in the air and x's where her eyes should be and her tongue hanging out.

<
------ check her out :) I'm thinking if I run 5 miles she will start to fly. I am glad she is still so stoked about yesterday's 4 miles, cause today I had off. No scheduled run or Bob's cause I had to take my son to the Dr.'s(just a physical) and let me tell you, I am sitting here at work feeling like giant ASS. I NEED to workout everyday, in the morning, or I go through the rest of the day like a depressed zombie...Eyes glazed over, stumbling around, drooling...it ain't pretty! It's days like this when I always wonder to myself how anyone can go through life not working out. When I start my day with an awesome workout, I handle everything that comes my way, better. When you feel kickass, you can kick ass...I'm just say'n.

Tonight when I get off work at the gym around 7ish, I am going to do an arm workout and then a half hour of sprints. I was going to do shoulders, but they are all ready screaming from the kettle ball swings I did at Bob's yesterday morning. I'm not scheduled to run tomorrow either and that depresses me...but I think I got hill's tomorrow anyway so that works out. If it rains though and I can't do hills...I'm running.

Let me just add here that running 4 miles on a treadmill sucks major ass! It is so much easier outside! But it's dark outside when I get up to run and dark is just scary, I don't care how much of a ninja you are.

Oh and Trevor(my son) did not get to have his first weight workout because it ended up being nice, sunny, HOT and HUMID so I had to mow my yard. Then I died.

Someone is definitely going to die if my Vibram's don't come soon. It's been a week since I ordered them. Yes I chose the "free" shipping method, but they should still come the.next.day!

...FUCK!

Monday, August 10, 2009

GAH!

I have spent the better part of 2 hours trying to get my Nike+mini to work again!(the cute little widget on my left hand side bar)

Yesterday Chris text'd me and said it wasn't working, so when I got to work today that was the first thing I came to check on...I just love it so! (lol)

Somehow the code got switched (wtf?!) and do you think I could find any info on the Nike forums or google to help me figure it out?...NO.

FINALLY after much cursing diligence I figured it out On.MY.Own. and have since saved the code in notepad on my desktop for future reference. Go me :)

I activated the coaching program on Friday...this thing is super cool! You can pick from beginning walking/running or 5K, or running a half marathon or full marathon and it maps out a running schedule to get you to your goal! It also has other options like training for a sport that is pretty cool too. I chose the 5k option and printed out my running schedule through October. Another cool thing it does is post your results of your workout on facebook for you with something like this(this was mine today):

ran 3.23 mi on 8/10/2009 at 5:33 AM with a pace of 11'01"/mi http://nikerunning.nike.com/n/r/en_US/1007975995/1343022434/?sitesrc=fbk_ab_plus

Click on the link and it takes you to my Nike page with a graph of my run, how I felt, what the weather was like and if I used a treadmill or ran outside and my notes on the run...so cool!

I was really suppose to run 3 miles yesterday, but I was too busy cleaning my house. OMG, my girl's bedrooms were atrocious! It took us 7 hours(yes I made them help) to clean them from top to bottom and go through all their clothes and weed out what doesn't fit or what they simply refuse to wear anymore. I also had them help me clean the dining room cause they had somehow made it their own play room. Needless to say we were all exhausted and a sweaty mess because they have no air conditioning in their bedrooms(so they sleep in my room downstairs) and of course it's all of a sudden decided to be summer here and hotter the Hades the last few days!

Holy cow I've never heard so much complaining in all my life...but like I told them, I didn't make the mess's so I didn't see why I should have to clean it all up myself. Plus by them helping me, I told them if they never wanted to have to do this again then to never ever have it looking the way it did again. They promised and crossed their hearts many times. (lol!)

I then took them to get ice cream at 9:00 last night and yes I ate some...Paleo what?? AND I ate pizza on Saturday as well...I rock. I want the body of a super strict diet but when it comes right down to it and I start to follow one, my brain just freaks out and I get flashback to comp prep hell and I'm all like oh hell no, I ain't doing this sh*t again. Yes, I am scarred for life. (lol!)

But in all seriousness I just need to have a better game plan and to have my foods readily available and prepared. I know this. (oh and I have to want to eat it~heh)

Back on track this AM with a post run shake consisting of 1 scoop of Egg white protein powder(I am NOT giving this up), 1/4 c. of frozen blueberries, 1/2 of a banana, and 1tbsp of chia seeds. (notice there was no wheatgrass or spinach...both of these things have been making me want to hurl lately and if you don't like what your eating, your simply not going to eat it). Then a couple hours later, as I was trying to bring my mini me back to life, I had 1 whole egg and 5 egg whites, (scrambled) and 1/2 a grapefruit with some green tea to drink.(ack that's totally a comp prep breakfast, kill me now!)

I didn't get to go to Bob's this am :( cause I had to come into work early, but at least I got my run in. Depending on the weather when I get off work I am either mowing my african safari yard or(if it's raining) taking my son with me to train him in his first ever weight room workout...don't worry, I'll be nice ;)

Heads Up!

I have listed the figure suit I stoned for the Arnold Amateur on Diva Exchange. Here is the link...
http://www.divaexchange.com/detail.php?id=4634
It is seriously stunning and cost me an arm and a leg to make cause I'm an idiot and used those expensive chessboard swavorski crystals(I just liked how they looked lol) and spent hours stoning it to perfection. If you mention ur a blog reader and want to buy it I will knock $50.00 off! I just want to be able to buy the Bodybugg and maybe have a little left over to take with me when I take the kids back to school shopping! :)

The thing is you really probably have to be 5'5" or shorter cause I sized and finished the straps and it fit me to a T!

I also have the Lavander sparkle two piece I wore for "Muscle And The City" and would be willing to sell that one for $150.00. Email me if you are interested and want picts! I don't have any with me cause I am doing this via my phone...ooooh but if you scroll to the bottom of my blog and click on the slide show you"ll see picts!

Have a kickass weekend and here's to making the Bodybugg mine...muahahahahahahaha! :) :)

Insanity

No, I'm not talking about the workout program, I'm talking about my week so far!

Work has been just stupid dumb...from lawyers being gone, people being rude, and to the power being out, it has just been INSANE!

And it's only Tuesday.

It doesn't help that I have PMS out the ass and ever since signing up for the Paleo Challenge on Martha's Blog I am craving everything non-Paleo.

*faceplant*

But I am going to be strong cause I really want to give this a shot and see if it can knock this 8lbs off that is making me feel oh so fat not fit.

I have the Fitday pc program and thought it would be fun to put a little Fitday widget on my blog so you all could see what I'm eating and the macros, but(I don't know what genius designed the program), there is no "Fitday widget"(hello what century is this), only a linking url(no fun!) and if you have the pc program(which I PAID FOR) you can't sync it to the web unless you pay a monthly fee(wtf!). Needless to say I find it to be a general pain in the ass to log my food as it is, but to have to log it twice(or pay for it)...yeah, screw that.

Just so you all know, Chicken breast heated up in a pan on the stove with some coconut butter is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. I think it was Tina's blog where I read she cooked her fish in coconut oil and said it was fantastic...I'm going to try that tonight.

I have but one little Paleo rant...no protein powder :(

I have a hard time meeting my protein requirements as it is and really like shakes after my workouts versus food. *pout*

Insert Jay Robb's Egg White Protein...

BUT, while it seems the perfect option with all it's lists of stuff it doesn't have like:

Contains No

* Dairy
* Casein
* Lactose
* Fructose
* Aspartame
* Acesulfame-K
* Sucralose
* Refined Sugar
* Corn Syrup
* Artificial Flavors
* Artificial Sweeteners
* Artificial Colors
* Fat
* Cholesterol
* Gluten
* Wheat
* Chemicals

...it does have Stevia.

To me that's not bad, but it's not "Paleo"...but I think for this I will suck it up and forgo a Paleo point everyday because it's just easier and makes me happy, and because I am a rebel like that. However, I did not get to drink it today cause when I got home from the gym my power was out so I couldn't blend up a delicious shake. I thought I was being awesomely smart when I packed all the ingredients and my magic bullet into my lunch box to make it at work(I am a genius!), only to get a call on my way to work to say that the power was out there as well.

*middle finger to the Universe*

Needless to say I gave it one last shot and decided to just shake up a shake with just water, the egg white protein powder, and a scoop of Amazing Grass Wheatgrass.

Holy Hideousness that was NOT amazing and I did not drink it. It was...bring a grown man to his knees in tears faster then a swift kick in the balls...bad.

I'm just say'n.
